'The Walking Dead' Season 7 News, Spoilers: Isolated Audio From Finale Reveals Who Negan Killed? Andrew Lincoln On Season 7
While "The Walking Dead" ended its much-awaited season 6 finale on a major cliffhanger, leaving fans and some of its cast members in the dark about who died a violent death in the soap opera-esque episode, a YouTube video featuring isolated audio from the finale may have shed light on the show's biggest mystery to date.
On Monday, April 4, YouTube user Federico Trione posted a video in which the audio track from the finale's final scene was isolated, thus giving some fairly obvious clues about who it was Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed.
The video, in which Maggie's (Lauren Cohan) high-pitched screaming and Glenn (Steven Yeun) saying "Maggie" can be heard, seems to point at fan favorite Glenn as the victim of Negan and his trusty baseball bat Lucille. Based on the audio track alone, it can be assumed that "The Walking Dead" stayed true to the "Walking Dead" comic books, in which Negan makes a terrifying entrance by bashing Glenn's head in in front of his friends.
However, as io9 points out, the finale audio track could have been edited by the "TWD" producers to trick fans into thinking that it was, indeed, Glenn who met his end in the season 6 finale. Many Glenn fans have been hoping that despite his fate in the comic books, their beloved character could still continue on into the "TWD" future. Others have said that killing Glenn off in the finale would be the ultimate cop-out, especially as showrunner Scott M. Gimple previously said that the series will take a "hard left turn" from how the scene plays out in the comics.
Meanwhile, "The Walking Dead" star Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, recently talked about how the death of one of Rick's friends in the season 6 finale will affect the character going into season 7.
"Guilt is an emotion that is never very far away from Rick Grimes," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. "He's a man that shoulders the responsibility, and it's one of the forces that keeps pushing him on."
"I think it's going to irrevocably change who that guy is and how he feels as a leader when the scene eventually plays out," he added.
Lincoln also said that Rick will be rethinking many of his personal beliefs in season 7. "There's definitely a re-evaluation happening in whether he can be a leader or if he even wants to be a leader," the actor told THR. "And this is going to be such a traumatic episode [when the show returns for season seven] that I'm really excited to see where this pushes him next."
"The Walking Dead" season 7 will debut in October.
