'The Walking Dead' Season 8 News: Chandler Riggs Chops Off Hair as His Character's Fate Is Revealed
Chandler Riggs is rocking a new 'do.
"The Walking Dead" star recently chopped off his infamous mullet after the fate of his character Carl was revealed in the season 8 winter finale. Riggs shared an image of himself sporting a fresh cut on Twitter Sunday, along with the caption, "new hair who dis." The photo has since received over 8,000 comments and 115,000 likes.
Riggs had been wearing his long hairstyle for the past few seasons of the AMC drama. Many fans were crushed when last week's midseason finale saw Rigg's character Carl being bitten by a zombie and was close to dying.

Although the episode did not feature Carl passing away in that moment, the 18-year-old star said fans should not expect any last-minute miracle to happen. "Yes, Carl is going to die," Riggs told The Hollywood Reporter. "There's no way he can get back from that. His story is definitely coming to an end."
Riggs has already accepted his character's fate but viewers still can't get over the fact that Carl will no longer be around in the coming episodes. Also upset over the actor's exit is his father William, who took to Facebook to express his frustration over the network's latest move.
"Watching [executive producer Scott] Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing," William wrote in a now-deleted post (via Us Weekly).
Forbes reports that over 50,000 fans have already signed a petition to fire Gimple. There have been speculations that Carl's death was political, as it might be a way to stick it to creator Robert Kirkman who has been recently feuding with AMC. Rumors also claim it could be financial because Riggs is now an adult and is capable of renegotiating for a raise.
"The Walking Dead" season 8 returns with new episodes on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
