'The Walking Dead' Season 8 News: Rick Is Ready for War in Latest Teaser; Will Eric Be the Next Casualty?
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) inspires the community to fight Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in the new trailer for "The Walking Dead" season 8.
In the previous season, Rick promised his allies that he would lead the fight against Negan and his group, the Saviors. This signals the beginning of the "All Out War" storyline seen in the comic books. Since the dramatic seventh season concluded, fans have been waiting to see how the good guys will defeat Negan and his crew.
AMC recently released a new teaser for season 8 and it brings back the strong Rick viewers have been accustomed to in the past installments. Rick can be heard in the background making a rallying speech to motivate the community to unite against their common enemy.
Throughout the last season, Negan seemed like he was always in control of everything. Rick often appeared hesitant with his decisions, but the latest promo proves the tables have turned this season. "The future is ours! The world is ours!" Maggie (Lauren Cohan) shouts in the clip.
The "All Out War" arc means more deaths will happen moving forward. While talking about his hopes for his character Aaron, Ross Marquand may have also given a clue about the next casualty for season 8.
"I want him to find his darkness, because one of the great things that I remember reading in the comics was that Aaron has this switch," he shared. "There's a really pivotal thing that happens in the comics, and after that, he really goes to this dark place and becomes sort of this kind of berserker-mode warrior, and that's what I want for him."
The switch he mentioned was the death of Eric, (Jordan Woods-Robinson) Aaron's boyfriend. He died while Rick's group was trying to take over an outpost owned by the Saviors.
"The Walking Dead" season 8 premieres Sunday, Oct. 22, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
