'The Walking Dead' Season 8 News, Update: Seth Gilliam Likens New Season to an '80s Movie

If there is one thing that is certain about the next season of "The Walking Dead," it is the fact that it is going to be the series' most action-packed season yet. As Rick's group joins forces with the other camps to retaliate against Negan, fans will witness several intense action scenes involving the survivors and the Saviors.

Recently, one of the stars of season 8 dropped another detail about the show's upcoming run.

In an interview, Seth Gilliam, who plays Father Gabriel in the series, revealed that season 8 looks pretty much like an '80s action movie. The actor even likened the next cycle to an episode of "The A-Team" and the typical action movies of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

Season 8 "is like a Schwarzenegger versus Stallone action thing from the '80s. I think there are, like, 10 explosions an episode. Every time you turn around, somebody's shooting something or blowing something up. There's some serious action that I don't think we've seen on television since The A-Team went off the air," Gilliam told Entertainment Weekly

Most of the previous season of the zombie apocalypse series found the characters apart from each other, but the finale then saw them coming back together to prepare for an all-out war against Negan and the Saviors. The upcoming cycle will reportedly pick up where season 7 left off, with Rick's forces now bigger and stronger.

In a previous statement, Melissa McBride, who plays Carol, also revealed that the show's upcoming run would be the most intense yet and said that her character would go around armed and "blow things up" throughout the season. It can be recalled that Carol spent most of season 7 staying away, facing some of her inner struggles. However, upon learning how much her friends had suffered because of Negan, she will finally take up arms and fight back.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 will air on Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
