'The Walking Dead' Season 9 Spoilers: Is Glenn Dead?

After the devastating surprise presented in the previous episode of "The Walking Dead," fans have been speculating that Glenn might still be alive.

The previous season showed the group being surrounded by a group of zombies. Glenn, played by Steven Yeun, and Nicholas, played by Michael Traynor, were seen on a dumpster trying to fight off a big group of walkers. However, Nicholas became overwhelmed and ended up shooting himself. Glenn then tried to save him, but ended up falling into the pit of zombies. The show then showed Glenn screaming while the walkers devour guts.

While it was perceived as Glenn's death, there were speculations that he might actually still be alive. It was reported that there is a possibility that it was Nicholas' body getting eaten on top of him.

The executive producer of the series, Scott Gimple, also hinted at the possibility of his survival. According to Variety, he stated, "Dear fans of 'The Walking Dead,' this is a hard story to tell and when we were planning to tell it, we knew our friends at the 'Talking Dead' would be talking to you about it. And knowing you'd all be talking and feeling and commiserating, I knew we should say something about it, lest our silence say something we didn't mean to say or not say. So I'll say this: In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story, to help complete the story."

In addition, there were reports that Glenn was still seen filming for future scenes of the episode. With that, Glenn is expected to remain present in several episodes of the season. However, it could be as flashbacks or visions, not set in present time.

Fans will have to wait until Nov. 1 to see whether Glenn is still alive or not.
