'The Walking Dead' Twitter Trolls Former Star Jon Bernthal Through 'The Punisher' Account
The official Twitter pages of "The Walking Dead" and "The Punisher" had a friendly battle earlier this week. Recently, the Twitter account of AMC's zombie apocalypse series trolled former cast member Jon Bernthal through his new Marvel show "The Punisher."
Although the 41-year-old Bernthal only appeared in 19 episodes and has long been gone in the AMC series, it looks like "The Walking Dead's" Twitter account still hasn't moved on from his betrayal of Rick (Andrew Lincoln). Recently, the official Twitter account of the series trolled the actor to remind fans of Shane's bad history.
The trolling started when the official Twitter account of "The Punisher" dropped a new teaser for the show, teasing its unrevealed release date. In the promotional poster featuring Bernthal, the show invited fans to "read between the lines" and showed an edited release date.
The Twitter account of "The Walking Dead" immediately took the opportunity to hilariously counter the post by replying to it and saying, "We'll assume it says 'I'm Judith's real father.'" In response, "The Punisher's" Twitter shared a GIF of Shane looking remorseful. Netflix's official Twitter also responded to "The Walking Dead's" comment, saying, "dead don't punish inside."
Bernthal is more popularly known as the villainous Frank Castle in the Marvel series. Before he assumed the role, he was known as Shane Wash in "The Walking Dead," best friend to Rick Grimes who turned out to be sleeping with Grimes' wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies). In the series, Rick and Lori got back together after patching things up with each other, and Rick eventually killed Shane.
It can be recalled that in the first season of "The Walking Dead," Lori was revealed to be pregnant before she died. When her pregnancy was revealed, everyone found it difficult to determine who the father of her unborn child was because she had just ended her affair with Shane.
"The Walking Dead" season 8 premieres on Oct. 22 on AMC. Meanwhile, "The Punisher" has yet to have a release date.
