'The Witcher 3' Blood and Wine DLC Previewed During GDC 2016

A CD Projekt Red staff has shared what appears to be a video preview of "The Witcher 3: A Wild Hunt's" upcoming DLC, Blood and Wine. The brief video was showed off during this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC).

The footage (first video below) was uploaded online by Piotr Tomsiński, Animation Technical Director at CD Projekt Red. Tomsiński showed off the GDC slide as part of the developer's discussion on "The Witcher 3's" dialogue system.

The video shows the game's protagonist Geralt talking to a few guards after killing a monster. The dialogue is apparently part of a side quest where Geralt will receive a trophy if he succeeds. This kind of mission is typical or standard in "The Witcher 3."

The GDC slide provides fans a taste of what's to come, according to Design and Trend. The publication reasons that the brightness of the particular scene featured in the first video below doesn't look similar to any area in the game so far. "The Witcher 3's" oil-painting effect is still evident and the color, hues, and lighting all paint a more cheery mood for the unfinished map.

The site believes the scene from the footage could be a "very rough cut" that provides an atmospheric feel for the new realm called Toussaint from the game's upcoming Blood and Wine DLC. Segment Next believes similarly, stating in a report that the slide was "taken directly" from the expansion. The latter publication also believes that the second video includes a few dialogue lines from the Blood and Wine expansion.

The new videos appear to confirm that CD Projekt Red is still working on the Blood and Wine DLC, despite rumors saying it will release soon. The developer told a curious fan in January that they'll be revealing more about the expansion "in the coming months," indicating that the DLC is many months away from releasing. It is widely expected that "The Witcher 3" Blood and Wine DLC will arrive in the first half of the year.
