'The Witcher 3' News: 'Hearts of Stone' DLC Release Date Announced (VIDEO)
CD Projekt Red has announced "Hearts of Stone," the "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's" first DLC is expected to be released next month.
More than 10 hours of new content and gameplay, new characters, storylines, romance, and monsters await players when "Hearts of Stone," the "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's" first expansion pack launches on October 13.
Polish game developer CD Projekt Red initially announced "Hearts of Stone" and a second DLC titled "Blood and Wine" back in April, with the former now available for preorder.
"Hearts of Stone" presents players with a new plotline where main protagonist, Geralt of Rivia embarks on a quest to take down villain Olgierd von Everec, a bandit captain possessing the power of immortality.
As Geralt proceeds to the City of Oxenfurt to accomplish the job the Man of Glass has hired him to do, players will be able to recruit a crew of petty criminals to help him out, and the whole band will encounter a number of strange creatures on their journey. They'll even hobnob with a ghost.
"Hearts of Stone" will be available via digital release at a $9.99 retail price, but will also come in a limited boxed edition priced at $19.99, which will include the game's digital code, two decks of Gwent cards and a rulebook.
Players who have previously purchased the game's Expansion Pass when "The Witcher 3" launched in May, will be eligible to purchase the Gwent card packs separately at the Redeem Gwent site.
While players can currently play "Hearts of Stone" missions in the main game, CD Projeckt Red has confirmed players need to be a level 30 and above to do so.
"The Witcher 3's" second DLC, "Blood and Wine," which is expected to be launched in early 2016, will reportedly contribute another 20 hours of new gameplay content. Both expansion packs are included in the game's Expansion Pass for $24.99.
