'The X-Files' News: Director Chris Carter Hints Possible New Season
After the highly anticipated return of the hit series "The X-Files," many viewers are wondering if there will be more episodes to come.
"The X-Files" revival, which aired on Jan. 24, was well-received by many fans. According to Den of Geek, the series gained more than 20 million viewers. It also had a strong presence regarding the DVR and online streaming channels, which had 1.1 million views.
With that, fans are wondering if they will get to see their favorite character back in the small screens once again. While there has yet to be any official announcement, the director of the show, Chris Carter, spoke to IGN about the possibility of more episodes.
Carter explained that Fox is interested in doing more episodes since the ratings were high for the revival. In addition, he expressed his happiness with how the show was rebooted and stated that he also hopes to see more of the show. Carter also stated that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovnys, the leads of the series, are also interested in pursuing more episodes.
While Carter did not confirm anything regarding a new season of "The X-Files," he explained what direction he would take if more episodes were going to be released. He said, "I think you would see a mix not dissimilar to what you got in this last one. I'd like to get Darin back to do another episode. There are other people out there. There are many ways to skin this cat and I look forward to seeing who I can entice back to the X-Files world."
While no confirmation for another season yet, Fox recently announced that the revival season of "The X-Files" will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD this Jun. 14. It will include several exclusive features, such as deleted and extended scenes. Fans may already pre-order the Blu-Ray and DVD on Amazon.
