'The X-Files' Spoilers, Plot Update: Scully's Mom to Appear in the Revival Show, Fox and Dana No Longer an Item?

The anticipation for the on-screen return of Fox's cult-classic science-fiction drama TV series "The X-Files" keeps building up and not a week passes by without an update of who is coming and what to expect.

The latest we heard is from TV Line's scooper Michael Ausiello who reported that the show will be bringing back one of a key character connected to Scully (Gillian Anderson) in the upcoming six-episode revival run.

According to the news, actress Sheila Larken is set to reprise her role as Margaret Scully, Anderson's onscreen mom.

As detailed by the media outlet, Margaret will appear during the second episode which was written by Glen Morgan and is titled "Home Again." The segment is slated to air Monday, Jan. 25 of next year.

Larken's character was last seen 13 years ago, in Season 9's Episode 9 called "Provenance."

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail UK reported that the show will open with Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully breaking up. Citing the new promo clip unveiled by the network during the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, California, this month, it was found out that Fox and Dana are now just pals.

The teaser sees Scully telling Mulder that she's his "friend and physician" during their emotional exchange.

The clip also showed Scully arriving at Mulder's doorstep telling him:

"Mulder, you hang up on me, I don't hear from you all day, you're on some jag about the X-Files?!"

The FBI agent exclaimed that he "finally figured it out" asked his partner to better "trust me on this."

"The truth is out there, Scully," Mulder said.

"You want to believe, you so badly want to believe," Scully replied.

"I do believe," he answered.

The new "X-Files" limited installment is slated to return to Fox on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 following the NFC Championship Game.
