'This Is Us' Actress Pregnant: How NBC Hit Handles Alexandra Breckenridge's Pregnancy

"This Is Us" actress Alexandra Breckenridge is pregnant with her second baby and fans wonder how this will affect her role as Sophie on the NBC drama. How will the show handle her real-life pregnancy? Will her  character on "This Is Us" become pregnant as well?

Breckenridge plays Sophie, the girlfriend of lead star Justin Hartley's character Kevin. "This is Us" introduced her towards the end of season 1 and at that time, it was not yet clear if Sophie will be a permanent addition.

In June, the show's producers promoted her to series regular for season 2. This meant that Breckenridge will be in every episode of the show.

Breckenridge then announced her second pregnancy on Instagram in August. He and husband Casey Neil Hooper already have a son, Jack, who turned a year old this September.

The actress hinted via People that her pregnancy will not be written in the storyline as they have been filming her scenes while hiding her baby bump.

"They have tricks and different clothes to hide stuff, and you can stand behind a counter and frame halfway up," the actress said. "They can also digitize it out these days!"

"This Is Us" premiered season 2 last Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 9:00 p.m. EST on NBC and Breckenridge was in at least two scenes. She appeared wearing bulkier clothes to conceal her baby bump.

Sophie and Kevin are childhood sweethearts who married, divorced and reunited on "This Is Us." Where their relationship is heading next remains a big secret as with most things about the show are hush-hush. Hartley refused to dish anything except to say that viewers will be feeling more emotions for season 2.

"I think you're going to cry harder than you did in season one," Hartley told Entertainment Tonight. "I think you're going to laugh harder than you did in season one. I really do."
