'This Is Us' Season 2 News: Photos from Midseason Premiere Released
"This Is Us" season 2 is currently on a break. But, when the show returns, fans can expect a nice moment shared among the Big Three.
In new photos from the midseason premiere courtesy of TVLine, Kate (Chrissy Metz), Randall (Sterling K. Brown), and Kevin (Justin Hartley) are seen all snuggled up together on a cold, sunny day. Kevin and a smiling Randall lay their heads on Kate's shoulders as a faraway look paints her face.
Other photos show the Pearson family, in the past, taking a vacation in the woods. This is consistent with the synopsis of the episode, titled "The Fifth Wheel," which states that Jack will surprise his family with a summer trip. Rebecca (Mandy Moore) enjoys spending quality time with a young Randall as both of them read books. Kevin, on the other hand, prefers comic books. There is also a photo of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) accompanying a young Kate to an ice cream shop.

And, while everything seems charming and smooth, fans know that drama reigns on "This Is Us." As previously reported, series creator Dan Fogelman promised more drama and heartbreak in store for the Pearson family. He cites a 12-minute scene, in particular, that features Kate and the adult Pearson kids "[going] at it in an interesting way."
"It's very loaded," Fogelman teased.
Additionally, fans will also get more insight into Jack's death and the events surrounding it. Viewers already know that Jack will die, but the exact details of how it happened have yet to be revealed. There is some reason to believe that he perished in a fire, but no confirmation of this has been made. Fogelman promised more answers coming, though, in the second half of the second season.
Fans had better have their tissue boxes stocked when "This Is Us" season 2 returns on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
