'Thor Ragnarok' news and rumors: Film might feature a significant death; film's plot vital to the 'Infinity Wars'
Marvel's sequel to the movie "Thor: The Dark World" will not hit theaters until 2017 but already rumors are swirling around. The highly anticipated movie "Thor Ragnarok" is the 17th movie in the Marvel cinematic universe and the fifth movie in Phase Three.
The plot for the upcoming film has not been released yet, but if Marvel will follow the comic book canon, then the story will be about Ragnarok the apocalyptic story line that spells the end of everything on Asgard, including the possible death of Thor and Odin. The main villain of the film will definitely be Surtur, the huge fiery demon.
The film will see the return of Loki who will be posing as Odin, which is something that will definitely be addressed during the course of the movie. Actor Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, confirmed his return in "Thor Ragnarok."
As fans may recall, Thor left for Asgard at the end of "Avengers Age of Ultron" in search of the Infinity Stones and this will eventually lead to a confrontation with Loki. But it has not been confirmed yet if Thanos will make an appearance in the movie.
The new movie is essential to the Marvel cinematic universe as it sets up everything for "Avengers Infinity War" parts 1 and 2. The first trailer for the film will be shown during the upcoming "Captain America Civil War," and fans should look out for hints pertaining to the plot of Thor Ragnarok in the movie.
Actress Jamie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif of the Warrior Three, will be back to reprise her role in the film. Meanwhile, Actor Idris Elba, who plays Hamidall the gate keeper, will also reprise his role.
The movie will shoot at the Pinewood Atlanta Studios starting next summer and it will be penned by Christopher Yost the man behind Thor: The Dark World.
Thor Ragnarok will hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
