'Thor: Ragnarok' News: Is Cate Blanchett the New Villain in Next 'Thor' Movie?

It seems like the cat, or rather the "Cate," is out of the bag since actor Mark Ruffalo revealed that Cate Blanchett will be appearing in the next "Thor" film as the new villain of the franchise.

Ruffalo chatted with ET Online during the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party last Jan. 9, and according to the website, the actor said that he came up to Blanchett at the event and pleaded her to make things "happen." "I'm so thrilled. I saw her at the Governors' banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, 'Please, please, please make this work!'" the 48-year-old actor shared.

Ruffalo also revealed to the website that Blanchett's role will be a "baddie," and that he's excited to work with her since he considers her as "one of the best." Despite several outfits reporting the same news, no official statement has been released yet to confirm that Blanchett will indeed be part of "Thor: Ragnarok."

The Golden Globe nominated-actress recently spoke with Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show, where she was also asked about being part of the said Marvel movie. In the interview, Kimmel asked her if the news are indeed true, but she did not directly answer the question with a yes or a no. When asked if she's dodging the question, Blanchett said "no," and added "They're just substituting one Australian for another. Gender equality! Why can't you have a female Thor?" Although Blanchett's answers during the interview are unclear, IMDb already listed her name among the cast of the film, along with Lou Ferrigno, who's also rumored to join the cast. On the other hand, the confirmed actors are Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, and Jaimie Alexander.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is said to premiere on Nov. 3, 2017.
