Tiger Woods Latest News 2015: Former Caddie Claims He Was Treated 'Like a Slave'
Golf caddie Steve Williams took some serious shots toward his former boss, Tiger Woods, in his newly released autobiography titled "Out of the Rough." The book talks about his career in golf, particularly on his stint as Woods' caddie for 13 years.
The New Zealander tried to indicate in his book that the experience with one of the best golfers in history was more than forgettable than inspiring. The part that triggered the most reactions online was when he claimed that he was treated "like a slave" during the time when Woods won 13 majors with him as caddie.
This part of the book should be quite revealing, albeit a hit below the belt against Woods:
"One thing that really pissed me off was how he would flippantly toss a club in the general direction of the bag, expecting me to go over and pick it up. I felt uneasy about bending down to pick up his discarded club; it was like I was his slave. The other thing that disgusted me was his habit of spitting at the hole if he missed a putt."
But it does not end there. "Out of the Rough" also claims how bad Woods' behavior was off-course, especially when the golf legend didn't contact or had communication with Williams in the middle of the infidelity scandals. He said in the book, "There was a lot I needed to say and it was going to be difficult to tell my boss he had to pull his head in." He added, "I explained to him what had happened in New Zealand and how furious I was at being dragged through the wringer over a scandal I had nothing to do with. He needed to know how difficult that was for me and my family".
But by looking at more than a decade of partnership between the two men, it is kind of hard to imagine that Williams didn't like it the whole time. As a matter of fact, they've been quite close to a point that Woods served as Williams' best man in his wedding.
After parting ways with Woods, the caddie took a brief hiatus to begin writing his book. After that, he went back to his original work in the golf course, but this time for Adam Scott. To be fair, though, the 51-year-old would think it's a fitting revenge against Woods, who he served from 1999 to 2011, only to be fired over the phone.
