Timothy Bradley Defends Title; No Rematch with Jessie Vargas
Timothy Bradley has reportedly turned down a match with Jessie Vargas.
There are reports revealing that Timothy Bradley has rejected the offer for a rematch with Jessie Vargas. They were last seen in a match last June in Carson California. It was said that Bradley was severely hurt during the last seconds of the final round when the referees stopped the clock, which pronounced Vargas the winner for the round.
With Bradley winning all the round before that, it was evident that he was the victor for the whole match. However, Vargas seems to believe that he has a chance in taking Bradley down, as he is insisting for a rematch. He even said to ES News that Bradley had already confirmed the rematch.
Vargas said, "He gave his word and look at him. He can't say 'Oh, I'll give you the rematch' now, cause he knows what would happen. I'd knock him out. I knock him out in a rematch. I'd finish what I started and he knows it. It's why he stays quiet."
According to Boxing Scene, Bradley was able to comment on his decision to turn down Vargas' offer for a rematch. He said, "There is a certain line that is there for a reason. We are professionals. You have a manager and I have a manager. You have a manager for a reason. But guess what? Nobody wants to see that fight! I won 11 rounds you won one."
Bradley is currently the World Boxing Organization welterweight champion and has been defending his title. He recently won at a match against Brandon Rios at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas last Nov. 7. There are speculations that he will be facing Saul Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao sometime soon.
