'Titanfall' DLC for Xbox 360 and PC Free Forever; Fans Await Titanfall 2 Release Date News as Development News Hits

Two pieces of good news recently came out for fans of the multiplayer first person shooter video game "Titanfall" as the game celebrates its one year anniversary.

The first piece of good news is that the game's downloadable content or DLC which used to be available only for paid season pass holders is now totally free for both Xbox and PC players. The second piece of good news is that the game's developers have confirmed that "Titanfall 2" is in development for release on multiple platforms.

Since "Titanfall" first came out in March 2014, both free and paid downloadable content was made available by Respawn, the game developers. Paid content can be had at a discount through the purchase of a season pass, and this season pass entitles the user to three expansion packs, "Expedition," "Frontier's Edge," and "IMC Rising." With this new announcement, even gamers who have yet to buy the game can opt to pick up the expansion packs at a later date after their purchase. The free offer was initially announced for the Xbox consoles only, but in later reports, DLC for the PC version was included.

The DLC expansion packs will provide the players with new maps which, according to a report in Forbes, will provide "a much different game overall than the Titanfall they probably played at launch." When the game first came out, it received high marks from critics but after a while, the lack of new content, having no "real campaign mode and a scarce handful of multiplayer modes" bored some players who eventually gave up playing, still according to the report. One of the game's saving graces is the constant updating of content by the developer.

This strategy of making available content that is free is said to help revive interest in the game. This will be important when Respawn again releases the game's sequel "Titanfall 2" in the near future. The report expects the new game to be infinitely better than the first one. The developers will likely incorporate in "Titanfall 2" the new additions in the first game and some more surprises. If they listened to earlier complaints, they will likely add a campaign in the new game for a different playing experience.

"Titanfall's" gameplay involves the players fighting as "free-running foot soldier pilots who control mech-style exoskeletons or "Titans."
