'Togetherness' News: Duplass Show Cancelled By HBO
Fans of the series "Togetherness" were surprised with a series finale when it was revealed that HBO was no longer renewing the show.
The second season finale of "Togetherness" aired last weekend, without the awareness that it would be the last episode of the series ever. The show, created by the Duplass brothers, was suddenly cancelled by HBO.
One of the show's stars, Amanda Peet, revealed that the cast had already felt the hints that the show was going to be cancelled. This is due to the limited viewership and low ratings received by the series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peet shared their sentiments on the matter.
She said, "We all really fell in love with each other and so it's been rough. It's next to impossible to have the combination of good writing and sane people, reasonable people, who write well for women — who write well for middle-aged women."
The series ended with a cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering what else is in store for the rest of the characters. With that, Peet also spoke about what she feels like is the path for her character, if the series were continued.
She said, "I guess my hope is that she was going to zigzag towards Alex. Which is to say, kind of run towards him and then become terrified and paralyzed, and then run towards him and then become terrified and paralyzed again. It's not like she has suddenly matured."
Fans are hoping that the series will be picked up by another network. This will serve as a way to continue the story created by the Duplass brothers. However, there have yet to be any news regarding the matter.
With that, fans will just have to wait and see what else the Duplass brothers have in store.
