'Tokyo Ghoul:re' Update: New Visuals, Posters, Character Portraits and Descriptions Released
The first batch of key visuals for the highly anticipated "Tokyo Ghoul:re" have been released to get fans hyped for the anime's return to the small screen.
Fans can check out individual character portraits and stills from "Tokyo Ghoul:re" here. More visuals are also shared by Crunchyroll along with pictures of the voice actors that play the characters.
The gang will be back in full force next year, albeit with some big changes. Ken Kaneki is now half ghoul and is now operating under the name Haise Sasaki after suffering mild amnesia.
In "Tokyo Ghoul:re," fans will see him work at the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) and actually thrive there as the leader of the special squad of investigators who took part in a treatment in which their bodies were implanted with the organization's special weapon called Quinque to become half ghouls.
Unlike the first run of the anime, which had the fan base divided, "Tokyo Ghoul:re" is looking to be more faithful to the manga by Sui Ishida. The first season took a different route from the source material, but ends in a way that allows the anime to steer back into the lore in the manga.
Familiar characters will be featured in "Tokyo Ghoul:re" as the poster and visuals indicate. Part of the action is Kuki Urie, who remains horrible at showing emotion except for jealousy, which is "is stronger than anyone else," as the character description teases.
"Tokyo Ghoul:re" will also feature Ginshi Shirazu, who is the epitome of the saying "looks can be deceiving." Looking past those shark teeth and the fact that he joined the group for the money, he is actually a compassionate guy.
Fans will also see Toru Mutsuki, who barely sees enhancement in strength and power that come with the Quinque treatment. This causes her to be left behind and so she compensates by giving her all in investigations.
Last but not the least, "Tokyo Ghoul:re" will also feature Saiko Yonebayashi, a special investigator who has horrible time management. This is mostly due to her lack of motivation rooting to the fact that she does not want to be there.
"Tokyo Ghoul:re" will premiere April 2018.
