'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' TV Release Date, News: Amazon Previews John Krasinski as Titular Spy Protagonist

Amazon has finally revealed teasers for the upcoming TV series "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan," with the titular role to be portrayed by actor John Krasinski.

Jack Ryan is a character created by the renowned novelist Tom Clancy and has been featured in several films and novels. The writer is famous for his incredible narratives taking on military science and espionage.

A few days ago, Amazon let Tom Clancy fans have a peek on how Krasinski plays the popular CIA analyst. However, the actor's appearance in the 30-second trailer was extremely limited to a dark interrogation room.

At the start of the video, Jack Ryan's fellow agents were seen in the streets of a Middle Eastern countries disguised as locals. The agents then confronted their targets, hit them with Tasers, and brought them to Jack Ryan.

The protagonist then showed their targets a smartphone and said: "All the accounts link back to this phone. We know who you are."

According to the description of the trailer on YouTube, Jack Ryan "stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers." This will force him to work on the field, away "from the safety of his desk job." His mission brings him to dangerous jobs "throughout Europe and the Middle East" to track down "a rising terrorist figurehead" believed to be gearing up for "a massive attack against the US and her allies."

According to Entertainment Weekly, fans were treated to a preview of the show on Saturday during the New York Comic Con, as well as another trailer of the series. The preview consisted of the first seven minutes of the show.

Krasinski is the first actor to portray the character in a TV series. Jack Ryan was featured in several movies before and was played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.

Krasinski was confirmed last year to be the fifth actor to play Jack Ryan. He told Collider at the time that the upcoming TV series on Amazon is the result of the "blurring" distinction between TV shows and films.

He added: "Carlton Cuse's whole plan is we're gonna shoot it on a movie budget, we're gonna have the same stunts as movies, it's gonna feel like a movie but you're gonna watch it every week."

Cuse is the TV series' showrunner.

Amazon's "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" will exclusively stream on Amazon Prime sometime in 2018.
