'Tom Clancy's The Division' News: Closed Multiplayer Beta Happening In January, New Gameplay Trailer Leaked

Fans of the open-world third-person shooter game "Tom Clancy's The Division" are getting extra hyped up this week as reports came out that the game's closed multiplayer is close to happening and a new gameplay trailer has been leaked. According to a report in GameSpot, information about the closed beta came from a listing in Uplay, a mobile app.

The listing indicated text that said that players can "take part in the Tom Clancy's The Division closed beta in January 2016." The listing also indicated all the game's platforms will be included in the beta, namely the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and the PC. This is a clearer indication of when the beta was happening, as opposed to an earlier announcement by Ubisoft that it was happening in "early 2016."

However, Ubisoft has recently announced the closed beta's exact dates. According to its blog post, X-box One users have a 24-hour early access to the beta and will be able to enter it starting January 28. PC and PS4 users can start enjoying it one day after, January 29.  According to the Beta's FAQ page, gamers who pre-ordered the game or availed of the Tom Clancy Humble Bundle will get a spot in the closed beta. Gamers may also register on its waiting list but that doesn't automatically mean that they'll get access to it.

A new gameplay trailer for the game was also leaked earlier this week through GameStop Italy. Although Ubisoft tried to contain the video, they later decided to make it public, according to another report in GameSpot. The trailer featured several environments that players will encounter in the game, such as the Manhattan Bridge, occupied streets and a CERA base. The video also featured some of the game's weapons and how players can customize them.

According to the report, story moments may have been shown as well, showing how dangerous the game environment is. One scene shows a gang killing a hostage, while another shows a police car being attacked by an angry mob.

"Tom Clancy's The Division" will be released on March 8, 2016 for current generation consoles, Xbox One and PS4, as well as the PC. The game has been delayed several times.
