Tom Hardy's 'Taboo' Season 2 Renewed or Canceled News: Hardy Confirms 'Taboo' Will Return for Another Season
Tom Hardy's "Taboo" will be back for its second season. The FX press site has not yet announced the renewal but Hardy, who executive-produces the show with Steven Knight, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker and Kate Crowe, has already confirmed the news with Deadline.
In an interview on March 8, Hardy said, "We are grateful and excited to continue our relationship with the BBC One and FX in contributing towards British drama. Fantastic news."
Knight also confirmed the news and said he's thrilled that the show has been well-received and has found such an enthusiastic audience both in Britain and the United States.
"We have tried to take an impressionistic, rather than figurative, approach to a narrative which we hope more accurately portrays the spirit of an extraordinary time in history," he said.
The executive producer teased that James Delaney (Hardy) will continue exploring more realities as he brings his band to a whole new world next season.
Scott also revealed that season 2 will feature more adventures with Delaney and the league of the damned; and that the series will be as dark and dirty as it was in the previous season.
Starring Hardy, Oona Chaplin, Jonathan Pryce, Jefferson Hall, Jessie Buckley, Stephen Graham, Michael Kelly, David Hayman, Tom Hollander, Franka Potente, Jason Watkins, Edward Hogg, Leo Bill, Richard Dixon, Christopher Fairbank, Mark Gatiss, Nicholas Woodeson, Robert Parker and Lucian Msamati, "Taboo" started airing in January in Britain and the United States and has had a huge following since then.
The series tells the story of Delaney who lived in 1814 and was presumed to be dead. Fourteen years later, he traveled from Africa to London to take over the shipping empire of his dead father. "Taboo" has a generally dark plot and features a lot of murder and betrayal.
Meanwhile, season 2 will include eight episodes and will be produced by Hardy Son & Baker for BBC One and FX. FX has yet to announce when the new season will premiere.
