Tony Hawk No Helmet Photo Gaining Support From Fans

Tony Hawk recently created a media and parental frenzy when he posted a picture of himself skating with daughter, Kadence Clover Hawk. The outrage came when people noted that the 5-year-old was not wearing a helmet and apparently at risk for injury.

Hawk posted the photo on his Instagram page, showing off his skating ability with daughter Kadence also on the board with him. The professional skateboarder taught his own son how to ride, and he is now a professional as well. Yet daughter Kadence still has time to decide what she wants to do. The photo, though, caused an immediate backlash since she was not riding with shoes or a helmet on.

The two skated in their backyard, which Hawk had turned into a skate park of sorts. In one picture, Hawk is holding Kadence in mid-air by her arms while they are on a skateboard; in the other, the two are simply enjoying a ride. Parents and fans were upset to see the younger Hawk without safety equipment and quickly pointed out that she could be seriously injured.

Hawk was just as quick to respond, though.

"One more from yesterday. For those that say I endanger my child: it's more likely that you will fall while walking on the sidewalk than I will skating with my daughter," Hawk posted on Instagram after people posted a barrage of negative comments.

"That is very dangerous, where's her helmet Tony?" posted xxabs1317xx.

However, it appears as though more and more people are voicing their support for Hawk and his daughter rather than discouraging the practice of skating without equipment.

"I love this! Pure happiness!" posted pennliz.

"It's nice to see a dad spend quality time with his daughter and she looks so happy. Good for you!" posted jenn7406.

"It is no ones business how you raise your kids! This is a super cute picture!" added mamadancer2012.
