'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5' Update: Patch 1.03 Released, Tyler, The Creator New Character

Skateboarding video game "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" went through a rough path since it was released with players experiencing some major issues. But instead of giving up amidst criticisms, publisher Activision promised fans to release game fixing patches and free DLC's in an effort to appeal to fans to give the game a second chance.

According to Game Rant, the first wave of free DLC's has arrived already. Developer Robomodo recently released a big update to the game, which is the new 1.03 update. It is now available and weighs in at 7.8 GB on PlayStation 4. The new patch has brought along with it new content and tweaks that carries improvement to the range of gameplay systems.

Eurogamer noted that there are new levels and character campaigns, as well as a couple of fresh features that gamers can revel in. Grinds have been changed in several of the levels and textures have been updated for many skaters. The source detailed the patch notes wherein it said that Underground and Wild West levels have been added. The lighting and visuals have also been tweaked and the ability to recuperate Special Meter during a single combo has been incorporated.

The update also brought with it two new character campaigns—Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Tyler, the Creator. The former Odd Future frontman and heroes are now playable characters in the latest edition of the game and can be customized with tricks and board art.

Aside from that, the patch notes detailed that Create-a-Park levels, User Generated Content Rating System, Leaderboard functionality and Tutorials have been updated. New modes have also been added and it include "Daily Grind," "Manual Mayhem," and "Skate Hoarding."

The new patch has not entirely fixed the game but Robomodo and Activision are going in the right direction of the game. It is still to be known if gamers will give "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" another shot, especially since it has been awarded with a rare Avoid sticker.
