Top Scorers List in UEFA Euro 2016: Gareth Bale Leads Most Goals List, Antoine Greizmann and Cristiano Ronaldo Behind Competition for Golden Boot?
There is still time for more goals as the top players compete for the Golden Boot
As the UEFA Euro 2016 draws closer to an end the race for the Golden Boot, the award to the player with the most goals, still is highly contested with several players still in the contention.
As of this article there has not been all that much movement at that top, but that does not mean that the race is over, as there are still several matches that will ultimately determine who will be the winner.
Gareth Bale (Wales 3 goals)
The top scorer from Wales failed to score in the team's stunning win against Belgium last Friday. But this does not mean that the prolific scorer will not score again in the near future.
Wales has secured their semi-final berth against Portugal and the match is set for July 6.
Alvaro Morata (Spain 3 goals) - Eliminated
Unfortunately for Morata Spain's round of 16 loss to Italy took them out of the tournament. While Morata was spectacular during the tournament he will have to wait yet again for his chance at the Golden Boot.
Antoine Greizmann (France 3 goals)
Greizmann's spectacular two goal match against Ireland put him near the top of the leader board. France still has a chance at the semi-finals as the team is set to play Iceland in the quarterfinals on July 3.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal 2 goals)
Ronaldo is still considered to be the one of the front runners to win the Golden Boot this year. He is considered to be a more prolific scorer than his Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale, the two are set for a head to head meeting in the semi-finals which could determine the winner for the tournament.
Portugal will be meeting Wales in the semi-finals.
Dimitri Payet (France 2 goals)
Payet is another favorite to win this year's Golden Boot, however the French star has been quiet since his last goal in the opening week of the tournament.
Payet has gone on to say that he has not been France's top player at all during this year's tournament and there is still a lot to improve on in his game. He admits that team Antoine Greizmann has been playing better than him and states that Greizmann is mostly the reason the team is still in the hunt for the championship.
Payet will have another chance for goals when France plays Iceland on July 3.
