Toronto Raptors vs. San Antonio Spurs Preview: Spurs Out To Even Regular Season Series Versus Raptors
The San Antonio Spurs will be looking to avenge their previous loss to the Toronto Raptors, as they play against each other next.
The two second-seeded teams of the Western and Eastern Conference divisions will be meeting each other for the second time on Saturday, April 2nd, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The first time the Spurs and Raptors met was on December 9th, with the Raptors hosting. The home team was able to break San Antonio's then four-game winning streak via a three-point margin, with a final score of 97-94.
In the said game, it was guard DeMar DeRozan who provided the heroics for his team, dropping 28 points, four rebounds, and six assists, shooting 10 out of 15 from the field, through 37 minutes of playing time.
Guard Kyle Lowry also put in significant numbers, scoring 19 points, along with five rebounds and eight assists, shooting 6 out of 11 from the field, through 37 minutes of playing time.
The Raptors also completed a rare feat in the game, as they only took 64 shots from the field. It marked the seventh time in franchise history that the team had won attempting 64 or less, and put up a total season-high of 57.8 percent.
Head coach Dwane Casey was rightfully satisfied with the performance of his wards, which also outscored the opposition, both in the paint and through the fast break opportunities. But for San Antonio Spurs Gregg Popovich, who has been known for being highly critical about his team, what lacked from his players was the 'sharpness.'
"It's not a certain play, or anything new that happened, they played sharper than we did and I thought they were more aggressive than we were," Coach 'Pop' said in an NBA.com report.
The San Antonio Spurs hold a record of 63-12, while the Toronto Raptors banner a win-loss slate of 50-24.
