Toshiba Unveiled Windows 10 DynaPad, Resembles Microsoft's Surface
Japanese tech company Toshiba has recently unveiled their latest version of the DynaPad 2-in-1 tablet. According to The Verge, the gadget, which is powered by Windows 10, was officially announced after a prototype made an appearance during the IFA 2015 last month.
One thing is very notable with the device though. It has a slim design and has a keyboard dock which makes it look closely like Microsoft's Surface devices. No doubt that the DynaPad, which is a 12-inch tablet, competes with Microsoft's new Surface Pro 4 which has a 12.3-inch screen. But even with the close resemblance, Toshiba is assuring consumers that their product carries its own unique features.
Those who are familiar with DynaPad knows that it was first released in the year 1993. It arrived at a time when touchscreen tablets were still a beginner to the tech world. The new version now is described as the thinnest Windows 10 tablet to date at 6.6mm, according to The Inquirer. But it goes up to 14.9 when the Surface-style keyboard is affixed.
As detailed in Maximum PC, it comes with a high-precision Wacom Active Electrostatics (ES) TruPen which is said to have the capability of giving off 2,048 levels of pressure. The pen also configures with the tablet's built-in metal mesh sensor technology.
Through that, the users are able to write on the surface of the device as if really writing with a pen on a notebook. This feature is something that Toshiba claims to be a highlight that outshines its rival. Users can sketch, write notes, mark documents and many more. Aside from Toshiba's own line of business apps, the DynaPad is also compatible with Microsoft's Office and Edge.
Also, the new DynaPad is powered by a 1.44GHz Atom processor. It is equipped with a 4GB of RAM and has an internal storage of 128GB. Its battery is said to last up seven hours on regular usage. At the moment, Toshiba is taking pre-orders of the device in Japan. It will be released by December with a price tag of less than ¥130,000. Its US release will be announced Q1 2016.
