'Transformers 5' release date, plot rumors: Mark Wahlberg to return, animated feature coming up
"Transformers 5" is reportedly finally becoming a reality, and Mark Wahlberg will still star in the action movie's fifth installment.
Mark Wahlberg will return for the fifth installment of the movie Transformers after the "Age of Extinction." In addition, fans will be delighted with the news about an upcoming animated Transformers movie, according to Latinos Post.
The script for Transformers 5 will reportedly be written by American writer, producer, and director Akiva Goldsman. The story line for the fifth installment will continue from where Age of Extinction left off, JoBlo reports.
In Transformers 5, Wahlberg will once again play the role of inventor Cade Yeager. Michael Bay will also still be the director of the famous movie.
The makers of Transformers came up with the idea for the fifth installment after Ken Nolan, Robert Kirkman , Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Zak Penn, Jeff Pinkner, Steven DeKnight, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Christina Hodson, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Lindsey Beer took weeks to brainstorm about it.
While Goldsman supervised the brainstorming, all the other group members contributed ideas to Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Paramount. They also passed on some of their ideas to the producers, the report details.
In a Twitter post on Sept. 17, Bay said he is neither confirming nor denying his role as director of Transformers 5, but he said he is talking about the upcoming movie with Spielberg.
"Re: directing TF5. No, it's not official. I have not committed to any idea as of yet," Latinos Post quotes Spielberg's tweet. "Just met with Steven and we are discussing."
Moreover, an animated spin-off for Transformers is reportedly being cooked up. Barrer and Ferrari have been tasked to come up with the script for the animated movie.
The animated spin-off of Transformers will focus on the origin of the planet Cybertron. Other rumors say it could become a prequel movie, which is a good move because fans have been longing for a feature about the existence of the Autobots and Decepticons in Cybertron.
The official release date for Transformers 5 is yet to be confirmed, but reports say it will come to theaters by summer of 2017 with the animated feature to arrive soon after.
