'Transformers 5' Spoilers: standalone spin-off titled "Beast Wars" rumored
A major change is expected to take place in the upcoming installment of the "Transformers" franchise.
Previous reports hinted that "Transformers 5" will take a different direction compared to the previous installments of the franchise. It was said that the story will put focus on the Transformers, as opposed to the human-centered stories illustrated in the past.
With the film currently in development, it was confirmed that director Michael Bay is taking on the project once again. It was said that he is working with Akiva Goldsman and his team of writers to produce the story of the film. They will be joined by Mark Wahlberg, who is expected to act in the film. However, there has yet to be any news on other cast members. With that, there have been speculations that the film is pushing through with its focus on the Transformers.
Meanwhile, there has been several news dictating that the franchise will present a standalone spin-off titled "Beast Wars." According to Akiva, this will pave the way for his plan to create an episode-type format for the upcoming franchise, similar to Marvel films. There are also speculations that the franchise will soon have an animated prequel that will explore the history of the Cybertron during a civil war.
Because of that, the upcoming "Transformers 5" will be decided into two parts. The first part will focus on Mark Wahlberg's character named Cade Yaeger and the Autobots living on Earth. The second part will be centered around Optimus Prime and the Quintessons.
Fans of the franchise can expect that the story of the Transformers will soon be expanding, which will pave way for a more established universe. This also opens the opportunity for actors such as Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox to return to the franchise.
"Transformers 5" is expected to release in theaters by 2017.
