'Transformers 5' Coming 2016; Film to Get New Director?
The fourth installment in the "Transformers" franchise, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was met with mixed reviews, but still went on to make $243 million at the US box office, while making $1.3 billion worldwide.
With figures like these, there is little room to doubt that there will be a fifth installment for the franchise, however, Michael Bay has recently indicated that he will not be directing the next "Transformers" film.
In an interview with USA Today, Bay said that he will "pass the baton for future 'Transformer' movies while he turns his focus elsewhere."

"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," said Bay.
It has been reported that Bay has other movies coming up, among them the horror flick entitled "Ouija," a sci-fi thriller "Project Almanac" and an undisclosed TV project.
With Bay leaving the franchise, fans have started speculating as to who should be sitting in the director's chair for the new movie. According to Unleash the Fanboy, several well-known directors who should be considered to direct the film include J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Lost, Star Wars Episode 7), Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Zach Snyder (300, Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice), James Cameron (Alien franchise, Terminator franchise, Titanic) and Steven Spielberg (ET, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park).
Fans are also wondering who among the previous cast members will be coming back for the fifth installment. Recently, Megan Fox said that she wouldn't mind making a cameo appearance in "Transformers 5."
"If [Bay] ever wanted me to do a cameo like assembling an autobot motorcycle in a bike shop or something like that, I would totally do it," Fox said to E! News.
"Transformers 5" is slated to premiere in 2016.
