Trisha Yearwood Weight Loss: Star Loses 20 Pounds by Cutting Mac and Cheese

Trisha Yearwood debuted a 20-pound weight loss on Sunday night during the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The country music singer who became a large success in the 1990s is known for her girl empowering ballads. She began producing cookbooks with her mother and sister in 2008.

In 2010, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine included one of Yearwood's cookbooks in a list of "Worst Cookbooks" of the year because its recipes were so unhealthy. One recipe, "Garth's Breakfast Bowl," included: eight large eggs, a pound each of bacon and sausage, cheese tortellini, cheddar cheese, tater tots, and B.O.B (Bowl Of Butter)."

But it appears that Yearwood isn't taking notes from the cookbook any longer. The country star revealed that she had lost a significant amount of weight Sunday. The star first spoke of her weight loss in February.

"I've been dieting and exercising and I've lost about 20 lbs.," Yearwood told People at the Southern Kitchen brunch she hosted at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival.

To keep the weight off, Yearwood has had to cut back on sugar and even some of those cheesy recipes that her cookbooks once promoted, although she noted that she makes room for the "occasional splurge."

"I'm doing very little sugar," Yearwood told the magazine. "And occasionally I have the mac and cheese."

Yearwood described her struggle with weight as typical battle that everyone faces.

"Real people battle their weight," she told People. "We all struggle between eating healthy and falling off the wagon. That's how I live." To make things easier, she has said the she tries to make exercise more "fun."

Yearwood appeared on stage to present one of the country music awards. Her husband, Garth Brooks, also performed on stage.
