'Trollhunters' Season 2 Release Date, News: Mark Hamill, Lena Headey, and David Bradley Join Voice Cast

The second season of "Trollhunters" is about to get even more star-studded, as the show welcomes a trio of renowned actors to the show. Mark Hamill from "Star Wars," Lena Headey from "Game of Thrones" and David Bradley from "Doctor Who" join the cast to voice recurring characters in the Guillermo del Toro-led animated series.

Hamill, a highly acclaimed voice actor aside from being, well, Luke Skywalker, plays the older brother to a member of the Trollhunting crew. Lena Headey, fresh from her turn as Cersei Lannister, takes on a similar role as an evil, powerful sorceress, according to Entertainment Weekly.

David Bradley, who plays the First Doctor in "Doctor Who" and Walder Frey in "Game of Thrones," voices a mysterious wizard that has powers that Jim (Anton Yelchin) and the rest of the crew will not quite understand, according to Deadline.

The second season will still be done mostly with the late Anton Yelchin's voice work, which has been recorded before his death in June. Beyond that, del Toro hinted that they have a window that lets them change Jim's voice slightly, as he shared with EW.

The acclaimed director is still sticking to their initial map of their episodes, despite the untimely death of Yelchin. It was something that he had, more or less, promised to the production team of "Trollhunters." It has driven the team, protected from "notes and interference," to put their all from the first take.

"You saw cinematographers going the extra mile to light really well. We had layout and story guys going the extra mile," del Torro said.

The results speak for themselves as the DreamWorks-commissioned animated series swept this year's Daytime Emmys with six wins. "Trollhunters" also took home three wins from this year's 44th Annie awards.

The video below shows a brief overview of "Trollhunters," as it returns for a second season on Netflix later this year. A more specific launch date is expected in the coming weeks, although it did miss out the initial list of Netflix shows coming this October.
