Troops Wipe Out Playground of Chidren in Syria
Members of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime have dropped bombs on a rebel village near Damascus, killing at least 10 children as they played at a nearby playground. Video footage captured the devastation of parents as they identified their children's bodies.
According to Reuters, the bombing took place on Sunday, though the Syrian army has yet to comment on the situation. The military has begun using cluster bombs in order to exact revenge for the rebel uprising against al-Assad's rule and has denied a Human Rights Watch report calling troops out for using such weapons.
"None of those killed [on Sunday] were older than 15 years old. There are two women among 15 people wounded, mostly hit as they were inside the courtyards of their houses," Abu Kassem told Reuters.

"There were no fighters inside Deir al-Asafir when the bombing occurred. They operate on the outskirts. This was indiscriminate bombing," Kassem contended. He also told the news agency that, in fact, the military did drop cluster bombs on the region.
Video footage shows the horror and devastation of parents as they identified their children after the bombing. The graphic video also shows the innocent children lying dead in the street, with their bodies strewn about like dolls. It's the latest in an on-going battle between al-Assad and the rebels who are working for freedom from the dictator.
Nearly 50,000 people have been killed since the uprising began last year, and the numbers have not discriminated against any one group. Men, women, and children have all died as a result of the civil war between al-Assad's regime, which includes the highly-equipped military, and rebel forces.
It has been hard for reporters to fully describe the horror of the Syrian insurgency, given the lockdown in the country. No reporters have been allowed inside to document what exactly is happening and have to rely on eyewitness accounts from those inside.
