Tropical storm Henri news: Storm may sweep through Newfoundland over the weekend

Another storm is grazing the Atlantic, and according to reports, it will most probably be spotted in Newfoundland this weekend.

According to The Weather Channel, storm Henri is currently located about 300 miles northeast of Bermuda and is making its way up north. On Thursday night, the eye of the storm remains increasingly disorganized, but Britain has been warned by forecasters to be on the alert as the storm poses a threat in Newfoundland by the weekend.

Multiple reports suggest that Henri's winds could reach up to 70 mph in some areas, while parts of the United Kingdom may experience two weeks' worth of rain in just 24 hours or so.

Forecaster for the U.K. Weather Channel Leon Brown said, "Next week will be quite interesting with the jet stream firing on most cylinders across the U.K."

In the past days, the storm hovered over the Caribbean, and though it has been downgraded into a former tropical storm when it started to head east of the Atlantic, its remnants are still considered to be powered by its battle against wind shear and dry air.

Due to the southward dip in the jet stream that approaches from the eastern Americas, Henri's system will be accelerated northward and later by the end of the week has tendencies of curling northeastward.

As it completes its journey over the northeastern parts of Bermuda, Henri may offer a quick blow of heavy rains and gusty winds in the southeast of Newfoundland come Saturday.

Henri is the eighth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, and according to The Telegraph, it could be the first storm that Britons will have a chance of renaming as it came just a few days after the Met Office called out to the public to choose storm names for the autumn season.

The hashtag "nameourstorms" has taken Twitter fans in a debate as to what are the best names for Henri, wherein one user asked if the storm could be renamed "Zayn."
