"I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot," said the actor. "I know very little about it, but we're shooting it in the environs of Los Angeles, which is great. It means I get to stay home and see the kids."

Vince Vaughn has also been confirmed to join the cast of "True Detective."

The plot of the upcoming season is said to be about "the bloody murder of a corrupt city businessman found dead the night before a major transportation deal" and involves a trio of police officers from different cities working together. If Farrell and Vaughn are playing two of the police officers, then who could the third officer be?

There are speculations that the role could go to Taylor Kitsch, but there are rumors that the third police officer could be a woman.

According to Deadline, Rachel McAdams is reportedly in line to play Ani Bezzerides, a professional sheriff who likes to drink and gamble while off-duty. Another A-lister is reportedly up for the same role — Kiera Knightley.

As of the moment, there has been no confirmation from McAdams, Knightley, or HBO about the rumors.
