'True Detective' Season 2 News: Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch Confirmed to Star in HBO Series
HBO has confirmed that Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch will be joining Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell in the second season of "True Detective."
The network announced casting and character descriptions on Monday, Nov. 24. Kelly Reilly has also been cast as Jordan, the wife of Vince Vaughn's character. Jordan is described as a former D-list actress who is a full partner in her husband's enterprises and ambitions.
Vaughn will be playing the role of Frank Semyon, a career criminal who finds that his efforts to "go legit" could lead to his downfall after his business partner was killed. Farrell was cast as one of the three detectives named Ray Velcoro, a man who "is a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him."

Meanwhile, McAdams will be playing the role of Ani Bezzerides, the hard-drinking, gambling detective "whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves," according to HBO.
Kitsch will be playing Paul Woodrugh, "a war veteran and a motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened."
The network also confirmed eight episodes for the upcoming season and that production is currently underway. As previously reported, the season will focus on the three law enforcement officials (McAdams, Kitsch, and Farrell) who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. HBO has not announced a premiere date as of the moment.
"True Detective" Season 2 is expected to air on HBO in the summer of 2015.
