'True Lies' Arnold Schwarzenegger Remake Being Developed for Fox
The 1994 hit action comedy "True Lies," which starred actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, is being remade for television.
According to Deadline, Fox has committed itself to a put pilot for a one-hour reboot of the project. "Arrow" and "Legends of Tomorrow" co-creator Marc Guggenheim will take on the writing duties while McG will direct.
"Avatar" creator James Cameron, who wrote, directed and produced the original "True Lies" movie, will executive produce the reboot along with Jon Landau for Lightstorm Entertainment (owned by Cameron), Rae Sanchini and Mary Viola.

The original "True Lies" movie followed the adventures of Harry Tasker (Schwarzenegger) as he attempts to balance his life as a superspy, a father and a husband.
In the film, Harry leaves his wife Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis) and daughter Dana (Eliza Dushku) in the dark on what it is that he truly does, which made for some serious and hilarious complications. The movie also starred Tom Arnold, Art Malik and Bill Paxton.
"True Lies" was a box office hit and grossed $378 million worldwide. Not only that, Curtis also earned a Golden Globe award for her performance in the movie.
FOX has been working on this remake with McG since last season. The director was previously involved in another series in development by the studio titled "9-1-1," but ultimately left over creative differences.
McG, who currently serves as an executive producer in The CW's "Supernatural," was also the man in the director seat for the first two episodes of the ongoing TV remake of "Lethal Weapon."
Since the "True Lies" remake is still in early stages, there is no word yet on what it will be about and who will star in it. FOX has the final say whether or not it will grow into a full-on series and their decision will depend on what McG and the team will put together for the pilot.
