'Twin Peaks' Season 4 Spoilers, Latest News: Co-Creator Talks About Possibility of Another Season
When "Twin Peaks: The Return" aired this summer, it was revealed by Showtime president David Nevins that there would not be any talks about a possible fourth season until the current one finished its 18-episode run.
Fans were surprised when it was announced in 2014 that the hit 1990s series of the same name was going to have a continuation. The original show was such a hit that it became a cultural phenomenon.
The comeback season concluded early last month, and while there were no announcements whether or not the story would continue, it now looks like there is a chance for "Twin Peaks" fans to see more of the horror-mystery series.
In a recent interview with IndieWire, co-creator Mark Frost shared his thoughts on whether or not "Twin Peaks"season 4 is really happening.
"I haven't decided yet," he admitted to the outlet. "I think it's still an open question and it's one that we're looking at and one that I think Showtime is musing as well," he added.
Frost wrote each episode of "The Return" with co-creator David Lynch, who also directed the whole season. The writing took more than four years, which is probably why they are not rushing into making a follow-up season.
He added, "It's something you have to think long and hard about. We'll make the decision when the time is right. There certainly is no sense of urgency about it."
Last month, Lynch said that they are not ruling out the possibility of a fourth season, but according to him, it was too early to say anything.
According to ScreenRant, the finale of "The Return" left the viewers with plenty of questions that could be used to catapult the story into another season. This includes the fate of Sherilyn Fenn's Audrey Horne, as well as the whereabouts of Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Diane Evans (Laura Dern).
For now, fans are encouraged to wait for more updates regarding the possible fourth season of "Twin Peaks."
