'Tyrant' Season 3 Finale News and Updates: FX Cancels Series After Third Season; Fan Reactions and Other Possibilities
FX Networks President announced the cancellation of the "Tyrant" series after its third season
FX network cancelled the "Tyrant" TV show after its third season.
Last Wednesday, the network announced the cancellation of the show through a press release. The same press release says that FOX 21 Television Studios is still currently looking for ways to keep the series' production going, but notes that it maybe proceeding in another platform.
The "Tyrant" series concluded last September 7 on its 10th episode titled "Two Graves".
FX's decision to remove the show was brought about by its low ratings. It incurred a serious decline of viewership during the third season. Back in 2014, "Tyrant" gained 2.1 million viewers on its pilot episode.
The Series
The series revolved around the story of Barry Al-Fayeed (Adam Rayner) who rose to power in the presidential dynasty of Abuddin, a fictional country located in the Middle East. He started as a passionate egalitarian who inspired a lot of people. However, he eventually transformed into a revenge-seeking tyrant.
The finale episode showed Barry and Molly amidst the waging war against the Caliphate. With Abuddin facing a possible bloody civil war, the characters are also doing their part to gain recognition. Meanwhile, Leila pushes through a bold political step without hesitation. On the finale episode, fans will also witness Daliyah and Barry walking their way out from their relationship.
Fans Affected
Viewers of the show who took the effort to follow it from its pilot episode will feel disappointment as the series seemed to be cut short very abruptly. With Barry still fresh from his transformation, the story could have used a little more time to develop and move to an interesting fold of Barry's tyranny.
Fans are starting to vent out pent-up emotions on Reddit forums.
"Gray-Sand" blamed it to the writers while also commending the stars of the show for their solid performance.
Meanwhile, another fan under the username of "phokas" could not agree even more.
"TheRedMacbook" said all the positive things about the show, highlighting that the series had the most unique ideas. He feels disappointed for witnessing it to end the way it had to end.
String of Hope
There's hope for "Tyrant", but it's still shady.
The president of Fox 21 Television Studios, the show's producing company, Bert Salke expressed the possibility that other networks may continue what the makers of the series have started. However, it is also important to note that they gave a satisfying ending for the show as well as opened possibilities that other interested producers may want to start from should it continue in another platform.
