Tyrese Gibson Announces Last Social Media Post About The Rock After Threatening to Quit 'Fast 9'
Tyrese Gibson (who plays Roman Pearce), has threatened to quite "Fast 9" should Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (who plays Hobbs) return.
As "Fast and Furious" fans know, Gibson has been in an ongoing public feud with Johnson, calling him out for accepting a spin-off focusing on Hobbs. Greenlighting the spin-off resulted in Universal Pictures delaying "Fast 9" to 2020. The spin-off is slated to be released in 2019.
Taking to social media once again, Gibson posted a photo of himself with Johnson and Vin Diesel. In the caption, Gibson called Johnson a "clown" and revealed that he will not be reprising his role as Pearce should the latter join the cast of "Fast 9."
In another post, Gibson also revealed that he is struggling with legal fees while fighting his ex-wife for custody of their daughter. He wrote that he needs the money from "Fast 9" in order to continue paying the fees. He also said that he "was never mad at The Rock," clearing up that he was "mad that he was 'pitched' an idea privately and said yes to it without thinking of what I'm dealing with personally."
More recently, Gibson announced that he had already spoken to an associate of Johnson's and "had a real heart to heart." However, he revealed that his feelings have not changed about Johnson, though he did say that it would be his last post on the actor. Gibson accompanied the message with another photo of himself with Johnson and Diesel.
In October, Johnson also took to social media to reveal his motivation behind making a "Fast and Furious" spin-off focusing on Hobbs and Jason Statham's Shaw.
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for this franchise that I've enjoyed droppin' blood and sweat in over the years and my vision is to create greater opportunities for not only my fellow FF cast mates, but for other amazing actors as well who want to be a part of something new and cool," he wrote.
The spin-off will premiere on July 26, 2019, while "Fast 9" will hit U.S. cinemas on April 10, 2020.
