Tyson Fury News: Aerosmith Guitarist Joe Perry Impressed With New Champ, Fury Will Likely Drop IBF Title
Newly crowned boxing heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has impressed a good number of members of the boxing audience after his victory over long-time champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Fury was able to outpoint Klitschko during their title fight on Saturday night in Dusseldorf, Germany, where won the WBO, IBF, WBA, and IBO titles in the process. He was also able to end "Dr. SteelHammer's" nine-year reign as world heavyweight champion.
Many were impressed by Fury's performance. Some lauded his other talents apart from boxing. In an interview with Vanyaland (as reported by Boxingscene), Aerosmith commented on Fury's singing skills, as the boxer sang a few lines from the band's hit single "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" during his post-fight interview.
"I thought it was great! [It was a] real honor to hear him sing it," Perry said. "Diane Warren — our friend who wrote [the song] — must've done a backflip! To belt it out like that… talk about being in shape."
Meanwhile, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has threatened to strip Fury of his title if he pursues his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko.
In a report by Sky Sports, Fury is expected to go up against the mandatory challenger, who happens to be Vyacheslav Glazkov. The report adds that if the two camps agree to terms by December 11th, the IBF would be canceling the purse bid. Otherwise, the winning bidder will have 90 days to do the said fight.
"Regarding the Klitschko rematch taking precedence, it's just the opposite as the mandatory takes priority of the rematch," IBF chairman Lindsey Tucker told World Boxing News.
The Fury camp was not at all pleased with the IBF's orders. In an interview with Sky Sports, the champion's manager, Peter Fury, described the situation as "pathetic and disgusting". He also went on to point out that the rematch agreement with Klitschko is a 'common practice' among world title holders.
"He's [Klitschko] exercising that clause so there's nothing we can do to satisfy the IBF," Peter Fury said. "Tyson has to fight Klitschko."
