Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko Rematch: Fury promises to retire 'Dr. Steelhammer' in rematch
Reigning heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury is adamant about keeping Wladimir Klitschko in the sidelines for good.
The 27-year old British boxer scored a unanimous decision victory over "Dr. Steelhammmer" in November, when they faced each other for the first time in Dusseldorf, Germany.
In the process, Fury won Klitschko's WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBA world heavyweight titles, ending the Ukrainian boxer's nine-year title reign, and eleven-year undefeated streak.
Klitschko immediately exercised the rematch clause that was agreed upon during the negotiations of the first fight. While there has not been any date set yet, Fury is already laying out his plans on how to go about meeting Klitschko inside the ring for the second time.
"I will beat Klitschko again," Fury said in a Boxingscene report by Vadim Pushkin. "And then it will all end. He might become a politician like his brother, or a Hollywood star like his wife."
Fury outboxed the 40-year old Klitschko on fight night, as he appeared to be the busier fighter throughout the 36 minutes of action. It is a performance he has been proud of, rightfully, being the biggest and most important fight of his career.
Prior to his loss, Klitschko was viewed as the superstar heavyweight, given his lengthy title reign. He has managed to emerge victorious against formidable opponents such as David Haye, Eddie Cahmbers, and Bryan Jennings, just to name a few.
But for Fury, Klitschko is simply another man across from him inside the ring whom he needs to overcome, in order to achieve further success.
"Everyone was treating Klitschko as if he were superman," Fury said. "Most of them already lost the fight in their mind before it had even begun."
"For me, he was just a man wearing boxing gloves," he added.
Fury currently holds an unblemished record of 25-0, with 18 victories by knockout.
