UFC 194 Results: Conor McGregor Dethrones Six-Year Champion José Aldo In 13 Seconds

On Saturday night at UFC 194, Conor McGregor was once again able to back up all his statements when he dethroned six-year featherweight world champion José Aldo.

The manner of which he accomplished it was more compelling: a lone straight left to the jaw that put the fight to an in end after a mere 13 seconds. "The Notorious" has officially topped Ronda Rousey's previous 14-second finish of Cat Zingano in February, earning him the fastest finish in UFC title fight history.

As soon as both men were separated by referee John McCarthy and went to their respective sides of the cage seconds before the fight, Aldo was already adamant in being the aggressor. When McCarthy signaled the beginning of the fight, it was clear that McGregor was the more calm and composed fighter, who played his game by maintaining distance.

But when Aldo lunged forward and went for a one-two combo, McGregor conveniently sneaked the straight left punch, immediately sending Aldo to the canvas. McGregor followed it up with two hammer fists, before McCarthy stepped in to put the fight to a halt.

During the post-fight interview, the brash Irishman showed more respect towards his opponent this time around. He also pointed out a simple concept that he believes helped him win the fight.

"He's powerful and he's fast," McGregor told UFC analyst Joe Rogan right after the bout. "But precision beats power, and timing beats speed, and that's what you saw there."

McGregor has always held a unique approach when it comes to fighting. Being a believer of "effective movement", he even went on to hire renowned movement coach Ido Portal for this particular camp.

After six years as the 145-pound champion and ten years of being undefeated, José Aldo now drops to a record of 25-2, with 16 victories by stoppage.

McGregor, on the other hand, extends his win streak and now holds a record of 19-2, with 18 victories by stoppage.
