UFC 200 Fight News: Nate Diaz Believes Conor McGregor Is 'Being Babied' By The UFC
Former lightweight title contender Nate Diaz is not happy about how the UFC is handling the rematch with Conor McGregor.
The two men will be meeting each other in the middle of the Octagon once again as the headliners of UFC 200 on July 9th in Las Vegas, in another non-title welterweight showdown. It will be part two of the recently concluded pay-per-view event UFC 196, where Diaz pulled off a shocked by forcing "The Notorious" to submission in the second round of their main event fight.
The odds were in McGregor's favor coming into the fight, which made Diaz's victory more notable. The Irishman did demand for a rematch soon after, which the UFC did give. And According to Diaz, such occurrences are one of the proofs that the UFC is "babying" their biggest draw too much.
"Without a question [I asked for a dos Anjos rematch], but they [expletive] want to baby McGregor," Diaz said in a report by Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. "They give him whatever he wants. I decided I'm not going to hold out like everyone else."
"I'm going to get down to business, slap this [expletive] and then be on my way and get my rematches."
Diaz pointed out how there lies a double standard with the UFC, in terms of treating their fighters. According to the 30-year old Stockton, California native, many of his fellow fighters have not been as fortunate as McGregor, who have demanded for rematches in the past, but have not been granted one.
The younger Diaz also went on to describe McGregor as a "spoiled little kid", adding that the reigning UFC featherweight champion should be thanking him, instead.
"Me and a lot of other people who have lost before have never gotten that second chance. One and done," he said. "Lose a fight and you'll never see that guy again. I wanted 10 rematches and I didn't get those."
