'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Season 3 News: All Episodes to Arrive on May 19
Netflix will be releasing all episodes of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" season 3 on May 19. And, similar to the previous season, fans can expect that the episodes will be longer than the ones in its freshman cycle.
The announcement of the comedy series' release date was made via a teaser clip released by the streaming giant. It featured Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess) dressed up in a yellow frock and strutting down the street with his pearly whites out. In a homage to Beyoncé's "Hold Up" music video, Titus walked through the city with a baseball bat and proceeded to slam it against a fire hydrant as well as Mikey Politano's (Mike Carlsen) car window - all while singing a tune reminiscent of Beyoncé's track.
Ellie Kemper will return as the eponymous protagonist, along with Jane Krakowski's Jacqueline White and Carol Kane's Lillian Kaushtupper. Like the second season, it is believed that the third season will consist of episodes with longer durations as opposed to the first. The reason for this is because of the change in media platforms.
"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" was originally slated to air on NBC as part of a straight-to-series deal with creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. However, prior to its premiere, the show moved to Netflix.
"The main difference between season one and season two is that the episodes can be longer," Fey said at last year's Tribeca Film Festival (via Deadline). "NBC is 21 minutes and 15 seconds after you take out the commercials. On Netflix, they really want you to make the episodes as long as possible for the amount of time you have."
Filming for season 3 took place in January. Burgess took to his Instagram account to share some photos and videos of his time working on the set of the Netflix series.
As for the plot of the upcoming season, it is expected to resolve the issue involving Kimmy's marriage to Jon Hamm's Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne. Moreover, Jacqueline discovered Russ' (David Cross) connection to the Washington Redskins, opening up an opportunity for her.
