'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' Release Details: New Trailer, Revealed During 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Premiere, Includes CG Scene and More [Video]
As previously announced, the new trailer for Naughty Dog's "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was shown during the premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on the weekend. The trailer has now been uploaded online, but more details of a special "Uncharted 4" behind-the-scenes footage were also provided by a forum user.
Neogaf user Abdiel was spotted by Gamepur as one of those who went to see the new "Star Wars" movie last weekend. Fortunately for him, the IMAX theater in Hooksett, NH was among the select theaters in the United States to feature the "Uncharted 4" trailer.
"There was BTS footage, showing Nolan North and Troy Baker doing Mocap stuff, with Bruce and so on discussing the impact of the focus on the story and ideals behind the game design, which was pretty cool," Abdiel said in his post. "The CG scene was really brief, with a really solemn piece to tie into it, with a sort of tagline, dramatic flash-scene, just something as a splash image, the BTS was much more impressive and a more than 2 minutes long, so that was the real 'meat' of it."
The 30-second trailer (below) is full of drama and shows a different side, a more personal side, to the retired fortune hunter Nathan Drake. It is titled "Man Behind the Treasure" and features a piano cover of "Where Is My Mind" by The Pixies, according to GameSpot.
"Nathan Drake, that two-bit thief, risking it all for some piece of treasure … but that's not who I am," Drake can be heard saying in the trailer (below).
When Naughty Dog announced the trailer via a tweet, it included an image that was taken from the trailer. The image showed Drake looking as if he was desperately after a gold coin. But the image was misleading, and the trailer now reveals Drake wasn't after the coin at all. He was after his brother Sam.
Drake and Sam appear in "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," which is scheduled for a March 18 release. The game will come out as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
