'Uncharted: The Lost Legacy' DLC Longer Than Main 'Uncharted' Games
"Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," the long-awaited standalone downloadable content (DLC) for the action-adventure hit "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," will offer gamers around 10 hours of gameplay.
Naughty Dog director of communications Arne Meyer said in an interview with IB Times UK that the team coming up with a single-player expansion of such enormous scale was inevitable.
Meyer explained that Naughty Dog does not have "self-discipline" to do an "Uncharted" story DLC. "If we tried to do that we'd create a full game," he said.
This is exactly what they ended up doing in "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy," thanks to their failure "to sort of, constrict and restrain ourselves."
"When we were doing story pitches, we were coming up with a game that would be over 10 hours long and so we suddenly realised everything we said was true and we couldn't keep it short," Meyer went on to say.
When it was first announced in December, "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" was promised to be longer than "The Last of Us" story DLC, "Left Behind," which was three-hours long.
It turns out it is three times as huge as that expansion, which already had a lot to offer in those 180 minutes. Even more mind-blowing is that the "Uncharted 4" story DLC also appears to be much bigger than the main games.
"Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" will take longer to complete than "Uncharted: Drake Fortune" and "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception."
As Digital Trends points out, this marks the first time that a DLC will require players to put in more hours than the installments in the main lineup. With that in mind, "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" sounds like it will be worth the long wait.
Set to be released on the PlayStation 4 later this year in both digital and physical versions, "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" brings back fan-favorite character Chloe Frazer with renowned mercenary Nadine Ross from "Uncharted 4."
