'Under The Dome' Season 2 Air Date Revealed
CBS' popular drama 'Under The Dome' will be returning for a second season, and the premiere date has just been confirmed at the Television Critics Association Press Tour.
According to Entertainment Weekly "Under the Dome" will return to air on Monday, June 30.
"Under The Dome" centers around a small town that has been trapped in its entirety, underneath a transparent dome. They are isolated, separated from the rest of society, and must survive on their own.
"Under the Dome" features the acting talents of Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris and Britt Robertson.
The show has been very successful, and the executives who make programming decisions took notice.
"This is the way television should be … ['Under the Dome' has] been a great new model," CBS Corp CEO Leslie Moonves said of the show and its success, Deadline reports.
Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment President, released a statement about the show and its upcoming second season.
"We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester's Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season," the statement said.
There is some concern that the believably of the show will come into question if the series continues for many seasons. After all, how long could a town actually survive being cut off from the rest of the world? How would they get food or medical supplies, for example?
But CBS doesn't seem too concerned with that issue. When questioned as to the feasibility and lack of realism of a whole town continuing to live underneath a dome, Moonves simply said "Why can't they be under the dome for a long period of time? This is television."
