Under the Dome Season 3 Renewed or Canceled: Season 2 Finale Sparks Rumors of Drop in Ratings
Under the Dome Season 2 has completed its finale and now fans are eagerly searching for news about the Under the Dome Season 3 premiere date. However, CBS has remained silent on the future of the show until now, leaving some anxious about whether the show will be renewed of canceled.
After the Season 2 finale, fans were left wondering about what would happen to the Chester's Mill residents, and in particular whether they would ever find their way out of the dome?
Some fans have pointed out that even though producers made an announcement about the renewal for Season 2 before the first season ended last year, they have not done so this season – again increasing anxiety among fans who are desperate to find out what happens next.
Speculation that the show could be canceled has been doing the rounds after news emerged that the Season 2 episodes were suffering a case of low ratings.
During its series debut, "Under the Dome" gained 13.5 million viewers for the pilot episode, and had an average of 11 million viewers for the rest of the season, making it a massive success.
It was considered as the highest TV drama premiere from any network since 1992.
However, the show suffered a significant drop in ratings for Season 2, bringing the network only 8.55 million viewers.
Offering an indication that good news should be reaching fans some time soon, CBS head Les Moonves has said that the network has not been too worried about the drop in ratings. He insisted that the production is paid mostly by international distributors and Amazon, and so there was not as much pressure on the network when it came to that show's ratings.
Whether the show will be renewed for a Season 3 or whether it will be canceled remains to be seen.
