Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton - 'Last 100 Days' Prompts Man to Bet $200K for Clinton
Man from Australia believes that the Democratic Party candidate will win the elections; rumors also say Trump to bow out.
August 1 marked the final 'Last 100 Days' of the US elections and things are not just heating up in the US but also abroad. Reports say that a man from Australia is so sure that Hillary Clinton will win the US elections that he has wagered $200,000 on the Democratic Party nominee.
According to 9 News, the bettor from Australia may simply be head-over-heels with Hillary Clinton or he simply wants to imply that Donald Trump being President is not appealing to foreigners at all. The man made the bet just in time for the 'Last 100 Days' of the US elections.
Trump to bow out?
On August 3 a rumor surfaced online saying that according to a Bipartisan Report, Donald Trump will drop out of the elections. There were also rumors that Trump is being turned down by the Republican Party and a new nominee will take his place.
These rumors may not be too worrisome for some people but could be very distracting for election odd bettors from overseas. Bettors are now going to online betting websites to place their bets on Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.
Wagering illegal in the US
While gambling on the Presidential elections is illegal in the US, in some countries, this is just a normal occurrence. In the U.K. there are gambling sites that allow bettors to bet on anything under the sun, more so the outcome of one of the most important political events in the world.
Other betting pools covering the US elections in the UK raised a bet about Hillary Clinton winning the elections but getting impeached. Ladbrokes, a popular betting company in the country, also had several prop bets such as "Trump to be replaced as a Republican candidate" and "electoral winner other than Trump or Clinton." There are some betting websites that still wager on Bernie Sanders to win the election.
In Canada, Globe and Mail reported that on July 19 there was an increase of the numbers of B.C. Lottery due to Donald Trump's campaign. The race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump has been the highest earner when it comes to novelty bets since the Oscars.
Different views about electoral results gambling overseas
The NY Post said that Americans can use these prop betting outcomes as predictors of what will happen on election day. The Slate, on the other hand, said that elections are usually flawed so there should be no guarantees of who will really win.
Political betting can be fun and should only be regarded as entertainment.
